Should I Offer A Certain Percent Less Than The Asking Price? Certainly, in all but a hot market. The real question is, what percentage less? It is important not to employ a mechanical approach to price. You should never say, 'buyers always offer 5 percent lower than the seller's asking price, so I will too!' Maybe 5 percent is too little, maybe it is too much. A lot depends on your reading of the seller, the market conditions, and how close to a realistic price the seller is already asking.
